The Search by John Battelle Thought for the Writer's Day: How Can I Find a Bigger Audience for my Book?

I check my site statistics every day. If you have a website for your book, I urge you to do the same. I don't, and can't, spy on anyone who visits my site, but I can find out approximately where in the world they are from and how many pages they look at. As such, I usually know when new people discover this site and come back on a regular basis. To all the folks who stop by regularly, I'd like to say a heartfelt "thank you!"

Remember to check the stats on your own site every day too. It's market research for free. Also, I still recommend The Search by John Battelle. It's a very readable primer on ways to make friends with the search engines. In this post-modern era, making friends with search engines is probably as important as finding an agent used to be. But no one appreciates that simple fact yet.

How Much Do You Read?  How many books have you read so far this year? It pays to keep a list, especially if you're a slow reader like me.
