Thought for the Writer's Day: How Can
I Find a Bigger Audience for my Book?
I check my site statistics every day. If you have a
website for your book, I urge you to do the same. I
don't, and can't, spy on anyone who visits my site,
but I can find out approximately where in the world
they are from and how many pages they look at. As such,
I usually know when new people discover this site and
come back on a regular basis. To all the folks who stop
by regularly, I'd like to say a heartfelt "thank
you!"
Remember to check the stats on your own site every
day too. It's market research for free. Also, I still
recommend
The Search
by John Battelle. It's a very readable primer on ways
to make friends with the search engines. In this post-modern
era, making friends with search engines is probably
as important as finding an agent used to be. But no
one appreciates that simple fact yet.
 | How Much Do You Read? How many books have you read so far this year? It pays to keep a list, especially if you're a slow reader like me.
