On Writing by Stephen King Thought for the Writer's Day: Why Should You Self Publish?

Xlibris sent me a discount coupon the other day, with a letter that suggests "Five good reasons to self-publish."

First, traditional publishers take too long.

Second, you can test the market.

Third, your book might be aimed at a limited market. The example they give is the "intricacies of microscopic vascular plants."

Fourth, you can leave a legacy.

And fifth, you have greater control of how your book will come out.

Interesting comments but I don't think they capture the truth. You go for self publishing when you have more faith in your book than any traditional publisher.

How Much Do You Read?  How many books have you read so far this year? It pays to keep a list, especially if you're a slow reader like me.
