Writing

Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell Thought for the Writer's Day: How Can I Succeed as a Writer?

Never give up. Get used to the fact that you'll be rejected a lot. Bloody noses come with the turf.

Being rejected and treated unfairly is part of the job, but that's true of many jobs if you stop to think about it. Do teachers get treated fairly by all the kids? Do cops always get treated fairly? Are airline cabin staff called peanut pushers out of respect? What about telemarketers?

If you ask me, writers have a pretty sweet deal. All they need to do is pluck up the courage to send work to an editor or and agent. C'mon, you don't even have to shower or get dressed!

Help Someone Today, and it Won't Even Cost You a Penny:  American Invisible readers have helped to raise funds for more than 14,000 thousand free mammograms, after reader Nucklehead Ed drew our attention to this good cause. "Going here and clicking on the button once a day may help save a life. That's not too much to ask, is it?" Nope.
