Coco Interlude VI
They sat in Teri and Oliver's apartment sipping
aperitifs and nibbling cashews and green olives.
"Is it just the four of us?" asked Lynda.
Teri shrugged. "We invited Alec too, but..."
Lynda grinned mischievously. "With a girlfriend?"
"We aren't sure. We left a message on his machine
but he didn't confirm. If he brings someone it'll be
fine. We have plenty of food."
"He doesn't usually arrive alone."
"That's true!"
Oliver was starting to laugh. "I'll give 3
to 2 he brings Cindy again."
The rest of the crew of Aquarius, Greg, Oliver and
Jon, had been in stable relationships for years but
Alec had never shown any signs that he might settle
down. Through him they could revisit, albeit vicariously,
the carefree days of their youth.
"Which one was Cindy?" he asked.
"Remember the girl with the bare midriff from
the Chess Bar?"
"Ohhhhh, yes. Cindy!"
"No. He told me they split up."
Teri was always sensitive to the pain of others.
"Ohhh."
"OK. Then 5 to 1 on Rachel," said Oliver.
"Remind me?" said Lynda. It was sometimes
hard to keep track of Alec's love life.
"Double D cup. 22 inch waist?"
"I think they split up, too."
"Ohhh."
Oliver was being silly now, enjoying the game. "I'll
give 10 to 1 on Devina," he said, with a flourish.
"I can't say fairer than that."
"Oh, I remember Devina," Oliver said.
Teri reached over and kissed him on the cheek. "I
wonder why."
The doorbell rang. "Aha! I think the mystery
is about to be solved," Lynda chuckled.
Oliver loped over to answer it. Standing in the
hallway outside was the familiar figure of his friend.
On his arm was a very pretty, very young girl. She had
long blonde hair and she wore hotpants. On his other
arm was another girl, perhaps a year older than the
first, with jet black hair styled in a bob, and a knee-length
skirt with a wide slit in each side that ran all the
way up to her waist.
Alec beamed. "Thanks for inviting us!"
